As I was a mom with one child on me and others in the cradle, I was working 12 hour shifts cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! It was all starting to come together but there was still a long way to go. The project would require the time, energy, and of course my favourite shopping experience to furnish this house. To keep within budget, I began by taking my sons to estate sales in search of diamonds. Each week we would spend the week of Thursday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new furniture. Then I repainted and smoothed in the driveway throughout the week. The furniture I found looked similar to... this is when my passion to restore furniture began. I continued to restore furniture even after we had completed the renovation of our home. I also had a booth at the market, where I would sell things. Then, I ran out of numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the space available. The number of people who visited my home in just one weekend to buy everything on the ground floor. My company Growing Days began here. When my business grew and so did our small family. It was like I had found the perfect way to balance being a mom and starting my new venture. Growing Days fit perfectly. The year was 2013, and my lovely daughter Nora joined our 4th baby. I was thrilled with where my company was taking me, but I felt like I needed some time off. I made the decision to take a break and spend some time at home, with my family. It was just what I required. But after a short time I began to hear my phone to ring. They asked for my help in interior decoration as well as renovations. It was mostly those who came to my open residence to buy furniture. I began to take on customers one by one going at my own pace but it wasn't too for long to have multiple accounts and was running a complete home renovation business. It would have probably made me laugh if you had said that this was going to be the subject of an DIY Network tv series. Indeed, I am laughing a little when I remember it.
