Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now Onesti] Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast in history to get a flawless score of 10 during an Olympic competition. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci when she was six. Later, she would become Romania's gymnastics coach. In 1969, she participated in the Romanian Junior Championships where she placed 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. Her first ever international contest in 1972, she came out on top by winning three gold awards. She won four gold and one silver medals at her first international competition for seniors that took place in 1975. This was the first time she competed as an adult. She took home the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first woman in history to complete a reverse double salto, which is a dismount from the uneven parallel bars. As a teenager she started appearing on traveling shows like Ice Capades as a skater together with her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6, 1942, in Chicago Illinois US. Carol started her career in entertainment in her teens. She began her career as figure skater, performing alongside her sibling Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show named Ice Capades. Ice Capades showcased performances of ice-skating with actors.
