Richard B. Cheney, prominent public servant and a businessman is the vice-president. Cheney is a familiar figure on Washington's political scene. George W. Bush, the next chief of state in the U.S. will be Cheney's fourth. Bush selected Cheney in July 2000 to be his vice-presidential running mate noting Cheney's judgment and insight. Dick Cheney was a chief of Staff to Presidents, was a member of the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense and was a part of the country in a variety of roles. Republicans and Democrats both respect his integrity. Cheney says he sees his role in the Obama administration as of a frank but discreet adviser to Bush. Cheney, who accepted the Republican Vice-Presidential nominating in 2007 said the he would be looking forward to being under a President who can work across political lines and work with political rivals through goodwill and a shared goal. Richard Bruce Cheney (born January 30th, 1941) was the son Richard Herbert Cheney. His mother, Marjorie Lauraine Dickey had been wed to Richard Herbert Cheney for over thirty years. When he was 13 years old, Richard moved his family out of Nebraska and moved to Casper in the state of Casper where his father was the head of Casper's U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservancy district.
